China Economic Net News Beijing on September 3: United States government,Obama has decided to participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations member countries and Japan, China and other 16 countries form the East Asia Summit, which marks the region to Japan and the U.S. in the core will usher in a newa game. Kyodo reported that Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is concerned, the news like a bolt from the blue. Japanese government stakeholders exclaimed: “such an important decision in advance not bother to say … … Does the Japan-US relations have deteriorated to such an extent that?”

July 17 this year, Kyodo News said from Hanoi, Vietnam, the U.S. government has given this interest in joining ASEAN, East Asia Summit. Japanese Foreign Ministry surprised this news has not only skeptical. Ministry of Foreign Affairs rushed to the ASEAN presidency in the United States and Vietnam’s embassy to issue orders to confirm that information is true.

July 20, the closing of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Hanoi, 10 foreign ministers issued a joint communique,  welcomed the U.S.of the interest in the East Asia Summit, and to be held in October a decision of the ASEAN summit. In addition to the United States, Russia also will participate in the East Asia Summit.

East Asia Summit is an annual pan-East Asian region by the leaders of 16 countries attended the meeting, organized by the rotating presidency of ASEAN, the first summit on December 14, 2005 in Kuala Lumpur, after the summit, ASEAN leaders are meeting each year after. East Asia Summit currently has 16 participating countries, namely the 10 ASEAN countries and China, Japan, Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand 6 countries, the summit also called “106″ summit. From the beginning of the first East Asia Summit, Russia attended the meeting as an observer, and has been asked to become a full member.

East Asia Summit was first set up, but the United States was not optimistic that this summit, “pose a real problem” and refused to participate. But with the integration of East Asia, East Asia Summit gradually become an important organization led of East Asian affairs. For “return to Asia to balance China’s influence in East Asia” strategy needs the United States begin expressed strong interest in participation in the East Asia Summit.

Diplomats said the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to deepen relations with the United States and Russia will help balance China’s  to Southeast Asia’s growing economic and military influence. International observers have pointed out that the United States and Russia’s participation in the East Asia Summit will help balance the national efforts to prevent the emergence of a unipolar situation. This means that Japan-led East Asia Summit will be faced with increasing challenges.
